In the Spring of 2006, David Bellamy and his friend Torben Sorensen from Denmark, embarked on a painting expedition to Scoresbysund in East Greenland, bouncing across the mountains and the frozen fjords by dog sled with local guides. They stayed in
hunters’ huts, barely more than garden sheds, with no facilities cut off from civilization for almost a week at a time

David, as usual, thought nothing of sketching in freezing conditions and even managed to sketch whilst travelling along on the sledge. Torben, also did some sketching and with his unfailing sense of humour provided David with a perfect foil for his wackiness.

Whilst the weather was glorious most of the time there were a number of storms which provided David with the atmosphere that features in so much of his work.
